Welcome to FirstRung. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FirstRung website (firstrung.app) and its associated tools, calculators, and content (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Educational and Informational Purposes Only (Not Financial Advice)

FirstRung is an independent educational tool, not a regulated financial advisor, mortgage broker, or lender.

The calculations, stress-tests, and insights provided by FirstRung are estimates based on standard UK underwriter logic. They are strictly for educational and informational purposes. Our outputs do not constitute regulated financial advice under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines, nor do they guarantee that you will be approved for a mortgage.

Your actual mortgage affordability, Stamp Duty liabilities, and moving costs may differ based on your specific circumstances, chosen lender, and market changes.

When using FirstRung, you agree:

  • Not to attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Service, including bypassing security features or attempting to access underlying databases.

The Service and its original content (including guides, text, graphics, UI design, and underlying code) are and will remain the exclusive property of FirstRung. Our brand identity, logos, and "Hybrid FinTech" design elements are protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without express written permission.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FirstRung and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, or financial standing incurred directly or indirectly from your use of the Service. We bear no responsibility for denied mortgage applications, unexpected homebuying costs, or financial losses resulting from reliance on our calculators.

6. Third-Party Links

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., mortgage brokers) that are not owned or controlled by FirstRung. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.

7. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
